In this video series I show you the application a black lacquer paint on a 1963 split window Corvette coupe. This application is for a vehicle that is going to be judged by the NCRS or other organizations. It is applied in a manor that duplicates the style and appearance of how the car would have looked from the factory. Part 1 cover the prep and spraying of the sealer primer. This is a walk around of my 1963 Corvette String Ray! I restored most of the engine myself and everything is in MINT condition and might be looking to sell soon for something else! Don’t know what else I’d get though. You should help me with decisions. There will be much more pertaining…

The building of these cars was a secret operation because of the racing ban during that time period. When GM found out that they were making race cars, they immediately stopped production of the Grand Sport, and only 5 of them were made. Great talk with the owner of this cool car! Only 5 were made originally…this is a reproduction, but it has evidently been around. I saw it before at Old Town, this has had astronauts riding in it, and the signatures on the glove box door are designers of the Corvette and famous car guys, like Dennis Gage. Just the look of this car is exciting…an amazing addition to any car show!
